Ancestry is traced to Johannes Riss/Roes, born in 1779 in Volgelsheim (son of Jacques/Jacob Riss and Magdalena Roth). He married Magdalena Gausché, born in 1787 in Mundingen, Germany. One descendant, John Roes (1821-1894), was born in France. He married Maria "Polly"Yoder (1838-1872) in East Zorra, Ontario. Polly was born in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Ontario and elsewhere.

Robert Taylor Ezzell (1819-1889) was the son of William Ezzell and Margaret Catherine Ward of Gwinnett Co., Georgia. He married Nancy Ann Hunnicutt (1823-1889) in Calhoun Co., Alabama in 1845. They settled in Franklin Co., Ala. near Belgreen. They were the parents of nine children. Several generations of descendants are given.

Joseph Goldsmith (1796-1876) was the son of Conrad Goldschmidt (d.1817) and Katherine Koenig (d.1836) of Tannzapfen-Muhl, near Rapperswyr in Alsace, France. Joseph emigrated in 1819 to America.
