Johann Schenck was born in Switzerland in 1845. Katharina Ziegler was his second wife and the mother of eight of his nine children. Katharina had a child from her second marriage to Paul Andries. After Johann's death in 1884 the family moved from Michigan to Montana where many of their descendants still reside.
