Matthew Ellison (1793-1865) was the son of Matthew Ellison (1752-1830) and Jane Bolton (d.1829) of near Chipping, Lancashire, England. He married Jane Wilson (1800-1876), the daughter of John Wilson (1755-1827) and Ann Langton (d.1837) of near Clitheroe, Lancashire, England. Their early married life was spent in the vicinity of Clitheroe, Waddington and Bashaw Hall in western Yorkshire, where he worked in factories. They were the parents of ten children....
