Reinert Immanuel Emerson (1870-1950), son of Raymond Emerson (1819-1904) and Inger Tobine Tallaksdatter (1836-1918), was born in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. He married Dora Elise Nilson (1877-1965), daughter of Peder Christian Nilson (1827-1888) and Gurine Marie Tomasdatter (1832-1904) in 1898 in Litchfield, Minnesota. They had thirteen children.
