Contains birth certificates of nonconformist churches of London. These records are stored in Dr. Williams Library and include Presbyterian, Independent (Congregational), and Baptist denominations.
The registry at Dr. Williams's Library is located on Red Cross Street in Cripplegate and may also be known as the Red Cross Street Library. These records are now located in the National Archives.

These documents were found at Shenley in 1949 and returned to St. Paul's Cathedral. Some were created under the jurisdiction of the Dean and Chapter, some under the Bishop of London and others. In many cases it is difficult to determine which governing body was responsible for their creation.

Description
A chantry was a chapel within a church, or built on its own site, established by a wealthy person or body, whose endowment supported the cost of the building and the perpetual saying of mass for the souls of the founding family or body. In 1547 nearly 2,400 chantries were suppressed.
