He was the youngest son of George Wolf, Jr., and his wife Margaret Wolf and grand-son of "Captain" George Wolf, noted Indian fighter of Bethlehem Township, Northampton County, Pa. Description
Moses Crankshaw (d.1810/1820) immigrated from England to the state of New York, and served with General Burgoyne at the Battle of Saratoga in the American Revolution. He was held as a British prisoner in Canada between 1777 and 1784 and, before exchange, married Mary Rose in Montreal. They settled in Saratoga County, New York. Descendants lived in New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, California and elsewhere.
