Peter Cairns was born in 1794 in Coldingham, Berwickshire, Scotland. He married in 1816 to Elizabeth Brownlees who was born in 1792 in Greenlaw, Berwickshire, Scotland. They had 9 children, Margaret, Thomas, George Edfward, William, Jame, Agnes, Catherine, Alexander and Elizabeth. All his children have immigrated to the United States.

Oliver Crouse (1777-1841), "... born in the U.S.A. of Dutch descent ..." moved about 1800 to the Bay of Quinte area of the province of Ontario, and married twice. Descendants lived in the provinces of Ontario, Québec and elsewhere.

James McNeil (d.1834) immigrated from Scotland to Ireland, married Sarah Wrighton about 1782, and immigrated before 1790 to Philadelphia. They later moved to land near Saltzburg, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, California, Arizona, Montana, Oregon, Florida, Washington and elsewhere.
