Michael Whitmire was born about 1740. He married Catherine about 1760 in South Carolina. They were parents of six sons and at least two daughters. Contains information on their son's descendants who gradually moved west into Oklahoma, Alabama, and elsewhere in the United States. Some members of this line married into the Cherokee tribe and are enrolled as members of that tribe.

Vincent Rongion (Runyon) was born ca 1645 in Poitiers, Poitou, France. He immigrated to Elizabethtowne, New Jersey, where he married Ann Martha Boutcher 28 June 1668. Peter Moore Suterfield was born in about 1775 in South Carolina. He married Mary Rogers 17 July 1801 in Laurens County, South Carolina. They had eight children. They lived in Tennessee, Alabama, back to Tennessee and finally settled in Searcy County, Arkansas. Peter died in 1846. The second section of the book is a one-name study of Sutterfields and Satterfields throughout the United States.

Shugan Ranson Davis, son of William Davis and Amy Ranson, was born October 4, 1788 at Ransom's bridge, North Carolina. He married Mary Sorsby, the daughter of Susan Davis and Benjamin Sorsby. Mary Sorsby was born October 4 1795 and probably married in 1813 or 1815. Shugan died February 12, 1857 and was buried at James Chapel in Clarke County, Alabama. Mary died in 1861 and is probably buried by her husband. The couple at four children.

The Sullivan immigrant ancestor, John O'Sullivan (b. 1637), came to America in 1655. He came as a minor with relative Elizabeth Sullivan. He appears in a list of Lower Norfolk People in 1673 as thirtysix years old. He married (1) Mary, daughter of Owen Hayes of Lynhaven Parish, Princess Anne Co., Va.; (2) Sara, daughter of Thomas Gore. Moses Fendley's father settled in Virginia and the family later moved to South Carolina. By 1791 Moses had married Margaret Robinson (ca. 1762-1832). Moses died in 1841 in Greenville, South Carolina. Descendants lived in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Florida, Oklahoma, and elsewhere.
