Joel Bugg was born 15 February 1793 in Amherst, Virginia. He married Martha Lewis Dickens, daughter of Samuel Dickens (1781-1840) and Jane Vaughn (1783-1825) 3 October 1822 in Tennessee. They had nine children. Joel died in 1869 in Patterson, Missouri. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri.

William Odell (d.1676), a Puritan, spent some time in Holland, and then returned to England, where he married Rebecca Brown. They immigrated to Concord, Massachusetts in 1634, and later moved to Fairfield, Connecticut. Some descendants immigrated to Canada after the American Revolution. Some descendants moved to New York, Iowa, Wisconsin, West Virginia and elsewhere.

John Little was born 1 May 1802 in Ematris, Monaghan, Ireland. He emigrated in 1824 and settled in Ontario. He married Mary Fletcher in about 1825. They had ten children. The The Elder and associated families have been in Illinois since the early 1800s. Gabriel Elder (1833-1909) was born in Indiana and moved to Illinois at an early age. George Washington Easton appears to have been the first Easton in Illinois. His daughter, Harriet Adaline Easton (1843-1894) was the grandmother of Mary Gladys Huffman who married James Clinton Elder. Descendants live in Illinois and other parts of the United States.
