Ellis Reed Sr. was born 12 May 1790 in Chester Co., Pennsylvania and was the son of Davis Reed. Ellis married Margaret Harry in the year 1816 in Pennsylvania. They moved to Muskingum Co., Ohio (prior to 1836) and were the parents of eleven children. Ellis died 27 January 1868. Descendants lived primarily in Ohio, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Montana and elsewhere.
