Sumner Benjamin Frick was born 25 December 1866 in Kenilworth, Pennsylvania. His parents were James D. Frick and Eliza B. Rees. He married Rachel Malinda Saylor (1865-1937). They had five children.

This book is about the Grumbachers, a German Baptist Brethren farm family, and how the Grumbacher property came into the possession of the Frick family. The earliest known Vansant to settle in South Carolina was Nicholas Vansant who was living there as early as 1749. He was the father of at least one son, George Vansant. It appears that he was related to John and Jacob Vansant who could have been uncles. Jacob Taylor was the father of Joseph (1827-1900) who was married in 1849 to Sarah Sharp/Sharpe (1830- ). She had three children before she died. In 1863, he married Mary M. Houts (1842-1910). His thirteen children remained chiefly in Indiana, but descendants lived in Illinois, Kansas, Florida, California and elsewhere.
