Daniel Garn was born in St. Clair, Penn., in 1802. He married Margaret Moses in 1824, and they were some of the early converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Margaret died in 1848 as the family was crossing the plains to Salt Lake. Daniel then married Pricilla Marsteller and settled in Salt Lake City, took three more wives, and later died in 1872. Daniel's surname is sometimes written as Carn or Carnes.

Andrew English (ca. 1690-1749) and his wife, Elizabeth, lived in New London, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Descendants of their seven children intermarried with the Thomas and Robert Robertson families, also of Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives scattered throughout the United States. They include members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

David Birch (1867-1955), son of Richard Birch (1824-1909) and Mary Ann Hale (1827-1887), was born in Hoytsville, Utah. He married Nancy Eldredge Garn (1871-1957), daughter of Thomas Garn (1839-1920) and Esther Ann Eldredge (1839-1925), in 1892 in Logan, Utah. They had nine children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Utah and Idaho.

Johannes Garn Sr. (d.1808) immigrated from the Palatinate of Germany via Rotterdam to Philadelphia in 1763. He married Margaret Lein in 1767 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and settled in Frederick County, Maryland. About 1796, the family moved to Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He married Lydia Wilmot, daughter of William Wilmot and Lydia Perkins, 4 August 1754. They had nine children.
