Contains transcripts of two letters, 1838 and 1840, written by Esther Meadows Garner, Posey County, Indiana, to her sister, Mrs. Sary Garner, wife of Samuel Garner, Carteret County, North Carolina. Sarah and Esther were the daughters of Issac and Mary Mann Meadows. Esther Meadows married John Garner in Carteret County, North Carolina, in 1811. They migrated to Posey County, Indiana, after 1830.

Isaac Chappelear, son of Isaac and Anne Arnaud Chappelear, French Huguenots, was born at London, England, in 1698. He immigrated to Maryland before 1730 and married Rachel. They had at least two sons. He died in 1741. Descendants listed lived in Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, and elsewhere.
