Johan P. Gartman emigrated from Germany sometime before 1734 with his five sons, Bartholomew, George, Daniel, Philip and John. They settled in South Carolina. Includes O'Quinn, Stovall and related families.

John McReynolds (1665-1760), of Scottish lineage, married twice and lived in County Tyrone, Ireland. His second wife, Elizabeth Shepherd McReynolds, a Quaker, and the four children immigrated in 1737 from Ireland to Cecil County, Maryland. Some of the children later became Presbyterians.
