Johannes Getz was born on 10 April 1819 in Bavaria not far from Munich and died on 11 April 1875 in Ohio. He married Anna Maria Schiller. She was born on 27 March 1821, presumably in Germany, and died on 4 September 1903 in Ohio. They came to America probably in 1848 and settled in Holmes County, Ohio in the vicinity of Charm and Berlin. Both are buried at Berlin, Ohio. They had thirteen children. Descendants lived mainly in Ohio.

[Johann] Balthaser Goetz arrived in Philadelphia, September 28, 1753 on the ship, "Two Brothers', from Rotterdam. Balthaser's wife was Maria Margretha. The date of their marriage is unknown, and whether they married in Germany or Pennsylvania is unknown. It is guessed that Balthaser may originally have come from Halle, in Eastern Germany.
