William Gilliland lived in Ireland. He joined the Royal Army in the 1750s and fought in the French and Indian Wars. After his discharge he remained in New York and founded the towns of Willsboro, Westport and Elizabethtown in Essex County. Includes his journal entries from 1763 to 1776.

Robert and Adam Gilliland are believed to be brothers and the sons of Lord James Gilliland of Ireland. They emigrated in about 1772 and settled in Boston and later in Shelby County, Kentucky. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana.

Forrest Gilliland was the son of James Millard Gilliland and Laura Hall. His family moved from Kentucky to Arizona in about 1900. He married Elva Gertrude Hall, daughter of William Alexander Hall and Sarah Francis Fannin Hall, 15 January 1908 in Grant County, New Mexico. Their son, James Oscar Gilliland was born 31 March 1911 in Duncan, Arizona.

Thomas Burnapp lived in Stanstead Abbots, Hertfordshire, England and was married to Johanna Nobbys by 1532. His descendant, Robbart Burnapp, lived at Great Amwell Parish and married Ann Miller ca. 1624. He had settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts by 1640 and later moved to Reading where he died in 1689. Jane Gilliland (1822-1865) was born a Vevay, Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Gilliland. Her family soon moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana, where she spent most of her girlhood, and then migrated to Iowa. She married William McGrew in 1844 at Wapello, Iowa. They moved to Lancaster Township, Keokuk County, Iowa. She died at age 42, three years after the birth of her youngest child.
