Ferdinandus VanSicklen, was born in Ghent, Belgium, in 1635. He later emigrated and settled near Coney Island, New York. It is believed that he is the ancestor of all American VanSickles. He married Evan Jansen, the daughter of Anthony and Grietje Jansen. Most members of the family moved about 40 miles west into New Jersey near Somerville. Samuel Givens immigrated from Ireland to Orange, now Highland Co., Virginia in 1738 and died in 1740. George Givens, 1743-1846 immigrated from Ireland about 1794 and married three times, dying in Pike Co., Ohio.

Description
John Lewis was forced to flee Ireland about 1729. His wife, Margaret Lynn and their children joined him in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania later. Their son, Andrew married Elizabeth Anne Givens about 1744, and they moved to Greenbrier, West Virginia. Descendants lived in Virginia, West Virginia and throughout the South.

John Coffey Caskey was born 12 August 1814 in Lancaster County, South Carolina. His parents were Samuel Caskey and Nancy Agnes Coffey. He married Adaline Tomlinson (1812-1891), daughter of Jesse Tomlinson and Nancy Allen, in 1834 in Maury County, Tennessee. They had ten children. He died in 1899 in Florence, Texas.
