Hans (John) Michael Gutknecht immigrated from Germany via Rotterdam to Philadelphia in 1752. His descendant, John H. Goodnight moved his family from Union Co., Illinois to Missouri about 1838, settling in the Stone's Prairie community of Barry Co., where he died in 1859.
