Thomas Jewett Goree (1835-1905), son of Langston James Goree (1793-1853) and Sarah Williams, Kittrell (1807-1903), was born in Marion, Alabama. His family migrated to Texas in 1850. He married Eliza Thomas Nolley, daughter of Edward Dromgoole Nolley, in 1868. They had five children.
