Chiefly a record of the life of Edward Griffin or Griffith. He came to the United States in 1635, settled in Virginia, was detained in Maryland for a time, and later went to the Dutch Colony of New Amsterdam ca. 1640. He bought and sold land in the Long Island area. He and his wife Mary, and their sons with their families, lived in Flushing.

The will of Edward Griffin probated 1 Dec 1742 in New York. He made the will on the 7th of January 1736. He left items to his grand daughter, Mary Barton, his daughter, Mary Disbrow, his great grandson, Benjamin Barton. He appointed is son in law Elisha Barton to be the sole executor of his will.

Jon Griffin was born May 2, 1946 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. His parents were Henry Leonard Griffin and Mary Higgins. He married Angela Bellamy, Elaine, Pearson, Lynne, Mc Callum and Janet Elizabeth Hallam. He has five children. He was a university lecturer for sixteen years at Anglia Polytechnic University when he retired for health reasons in 1997.
