Chiefly a record of the life of Edward Griffin or Griffith. He came to the United States in 1635, settled in Virginia, was detained in Maryland for a time, and later went to the Dutch Colony of New Amsterdam ca. 1640. He bought and sold land in the Long Island area. He and his wife Mary, and their sons with their families, lived in Flushing.

Jon Griffin was born May 2, 1946 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. His parents were Henry Leonard Griffin and Mary Higgins. He married Angela Bellamy, Elaine, Pearson, Lynne, Mc Callum and Janet Elizabeth Hallam. He has five children. He was a university lecturer for sixteen years at Anglia Polytechnic University when he retired for health reasons in 1997.

Descendants of Ignatious Griffin (b. ca. 1748) and his wife Maryville (Marvel). She was a widow of Peter Howard. He died 1810 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. They had five children: Jesse, Henry, Bowen and Marvel. This book contains the descendants of Jesse, Henry and Bowen Griffin. Descendants live in South Carolina, Texas, Arizona and elsewhere.
