John Frederick Blessing, son of Johan F. Blessing, emigrated from Germany in 1832 when he was seven years old. He married Emily Jane Grim, daughter of Jacob Grim and Elizabeth Hanaker, in 1846 in Winchester, Virginia. They had nine children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia and West Virginia.

Descendants of John Heinrich (John Henry) Kemmer (1803-1873), who was born in Germany. He came from Uthlede, Hanover, Germany to New York about 1866. He died in New York City, New York.
