Fred W. (Friedrich Wilhelm) Gross, son of Friedrich Wilhelm Gross and Maria Riegel, was born in 1895 and lived in in Grossliebental, Russia. He and immigrated to the United States. in 1914. He was ordained into the Congregational Church in 1922. He married Emilie Bastian in 1924 in Coleharbor, North Dakota. They had four children. He served in North Dakota, Argentina, Brazil, California and Canada. .

Isaac Gross was born 19 November 1585 in Kelsagh, Suffolk, England. His parents were William Gross and Mary. He married Ann Lobley 5 August 1613 in KIng's Lynn, Norfolk. They had three known sons, Edmund, Clement and Matthew. They emigrated in about 1634 and settled in Boston, Massachusetts. Isaac died 5 June 1649.

David J. Gross, son of Joseph Gross, was born 15 December 1875 in Russia. His family emigrated in 1876. He married Maria Walter, daughter of Jacob Walter and Barbara Decker, in 1901. They settled in Spink County, South Dakota in 1909.

They had seven children; Simon, Thomas, John, Josiah, Misah/Micah, Alice and Abigail. There seems to be a close relationship between the Hinkes and Gross families of Welfleet and of Truro.
