John Grout (b.1615) was born in England to Sir Richard Groutt of Walton, Derby, England. He was the ancestor of the Grout family in America. He was the father of Jonathon Grout (1658-1730) who was born in Sudbury, Massachusetts. He married Abigail Dix (1676-1753) and they became the parents of eight children.
