John Ameling was born in Varensell, Germany in 1891. His parents were Josef Ameling and Elizabeth Streithorst. He married Mathilda Kruse, daughter of Henry Kruse and Susanna Werner, in 1915 in St. Lucas, Iowa. They had ten children. Traces their ancestors, descendants and relatives in Germany, Iowa, Oklahoma and elsewhere.
