Jacob Gro/Crow/Kroh/Croe was born in Germany. He came as an indentured servant, probably about 1750. He married Susannah Trusel (or Secrist) and they moved to western Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and elsewhere.

Philip Willcutt (d. 1771) married Deborah Gannett in 1711 at Scituate, Massachusetts, and later moved to Hingham, Massachusetts. Jason B. Wolcott (1787-1870), a direct descendant in the third generation, married Lydia Hoxie and moved from Massachusetts to Michigan. Descendants of Philip lived chiefly in New England. Descendants of Jason lived in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Kansas and elsewhere.

Abner Woodall was born April 25, 1798 in Johnston County, North Carolina. Sarah "Sallie" Baugh was born in 1791 in Virginia. They were married February 20, 1819 in Putnam County, Georgia. They had six children. Abner died in 1833 and Sarah died in 1856. They were both buried in Talbot, Georgia. Descendants and relatives lived in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and elsewhere.

John Hagerman Sr. (1725-1813) married Phoebe Ferguson and lived near Poughkeepsie, New York. He and at least one of his sons served with the British army during the Revolutionary War, and in 1784 the family immigrated to Canada as United Empire Loyalists.
