Sylvanus Hoyt (1754-1825), a fifth-generation descendant of Simon Hoyt of Charleston, Massachusetts, lived in Poundridge, Westchester County, New York, where he married Anna Smith in 1777. Their five sons and four daughters were all born in New York.
