Manly Gillette Hakes was born 15 April 1915 in Java Center, New York. His parents were Benjamin Manly and Elva May Gillette. He married Teresa Clarice Bartz 4 June 1936. They had four children. He died in 2003.

Solomon Hakes was born in Westerly, Rhode Island in 1709, and married Anna Billings in 1718 at Stonington, Connecticut. Descendants lived in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to Ontario and elsewhere in Canada.

James Carncross was born in 1825 in Scotland. He married Evelyn in 1854. Their son, Albert Cyril, married Emily Johnson 14 March 1871 in Leeds, Yorkshire. They had five children. Their sons, Albert Henry (1882-1966) and Frederick (1889- ) emigrated and settled in Erie County, New York. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New York. Charles Butterfield Pierce, son of Isaac Pierce and Sally Butterfiled, was born in 1808 in Brownville, New York. He married Elizabeth Johnson in 1829 in Switzerland County, Indiana. They had ten children. He died in 1882. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Illinois, Missouri and Colorado.
