William Haley was born in 1831 in Yarmouth Nova Scotia. His parents were Comfort Haley and Ruth Robbins. He married his cousin, Adelaide Robbins daughter of Asa Sherman Robbins (1812-1896) and Amanda Jane Cook, in 1855. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Massachusetts, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He is descended from Mayflower passengers on his maternal lines.
