The earliest known Hamer was Robert de Hamer who lived in Rochdale, Lancashire in 1380. One of his descendants was John Hamer (1743- 1818) who was also born in Lancashire. He married Elizabeth Hobkinson and they were the parents of eight children, one of whom was John Hamer (1774-1853) who was the father of ten children. Descendants live in England.

Abraham Hamer was born in 1632 in Llandinam, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He married Sara and they had six children. He died in 1716. Some descendants spell their name Haymer.

Joshua Haslam was born in Utah in 1865. His parents John S. and Martha Hamer Haslam were early converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who were married in St. Louis on their way west. The family settled in eastern Utah where he married Alice Southam. They were the parents of nine children. Later they moved back to Utah valley. Information on his ancestral lines is given in this volume.

Daniel McCallum, a Scotish widower came to America in 1770 and soon married Isabel Sellars in North Carolina. Some background is given for his ancestors and many of his descendant are included in this work. When it was published most of them seemed to still be in the Carolina area.

Jort Jortsen Bonne (1827-1898) was a son of Jort Cornelis Bonne and Trijntje Cornelis Cupido, born in Midsland on the island of Terschelling in the North Sea, belonging to The Netherlands. Jort or George married Rimka Ariens Roos in 1852, and in 1867 they immigrated (via New York City) to Winnebago County, Illinois. Frederick Carlson Syrett was born 16 June 1858 in Simpson, Buckingham, England. His parents were Reuben Newman Syrett (1831-1902) and Susannah Barden (1823-1878). He married Sarah Delila Morrill Bunce, daughter of Lewis Demott Bunce (1826-1900) and Sarah Ann Sudweeks (1844-1927), 21 September 1882 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had nine children. She married Kenneth Christian Todd, son of William Henry Todd and Catherine Agnes Sorensen, 22 May 1935 in Logan, Cache, Utah. Henry Leader was born 20 May 1868 in Brooke Township, Ontario. His parents were James Leader and Hannah. He married Emma Alferetta Healey (1876-1948), daughter of James Samuel Healey and Sara Jane Apley, in 1892 in Petrolia, Ontario. They had nine children.
