Peter Ernest Hanson was born 7 March 1862 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were Peter Ernest Hansen and Augusta Hansene Lund. He married Sarah Helen Glines (1866-1934), daughter of James Harvey Glines and Elizabeth Ann Myers, 14 October 1885 in Logan, Utah. They had four children. They raised their family in Vernal Utah.
