Jonas Beard was born in about 1730 in Colmar, Alsace, France. He emigrated in about 1738 and settled in Pennsylvania. He married Agnes Catherine Kirchner Singler (1738-1804) 30 June 1762 in Lexington County, South Carolina. They had eight children. He was a colonel and he fought in the Revolutionary War.
