Gustavus Meminger Hathaway was born in 1886 in Florida to Simon Wing Hathaway and Sarah Elizabeth Braxton. He married Mary Ann Ard. They lived in Ozark, Alabama. Gustavus died in 1931 in Dothan, Alabama. Covers his ancestors and descendants. The Hathaway line is traced back to Arthur Hathaway who arrived in America ca. 1630 and lived in Plymouth, Massachusetts until ca. 1655.

Thomas Gardner was born ca. 1592, perhaps in Dorsetshire, England. He immigrated to America in 1624. He married twice and was the father of nine children, born England and Massachusetts. He died at Salem, Massachusetts, in 1674. Most descendants listed lived in Massachusetts.
Includes the Harmon, Hathaway, Pope, and other related families.

Francis Cooke was born in England after August 1583, married Hester Mahieu 4 July 1603 in Leyden, Holland. They had five children. They immigrated in 1620 to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Francis died 7 April 1663. Descendants and relatives lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and elsewhere.

John (d.1622) and Elizabeth Clements emigrated from England to Henrico City, Virginia in 1617. The widow married a Captain Hamor in 1623 and returned to England with her two Clements children. One of these sons, Jeremiah Clements, returned to Surry County, Virginia about 1633/1635 and died by 1657. Descendants lived in Virginia, Texas, Indiana, Illinois and elsewhere.

John Collins immigrated from Ireland to Philadelphia in 1745 and settled in Frederick County, Virginia, and moved to Harrison County, Virginia before 1785, where he died after 1795. Descendants lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and elsewhere.
