John Hartz, son of Georg Hatz (d. 1816) and Catherine Longenecker (d. 1804), was born in West Hanover Township (now East Hanover Township), Dauphin County, Pennsylvania in 1801. John married Catherine Hershey (1807-1874), the daughter of Christian Hershey and Susannah Landis in 1825. Samuel Hartz was born 17 January 1800 in West Hanover Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. His parents were Georg Hatz and Catharine Longenecker. He married Mary Brightbill 3 August 1824. They had twelve children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania and Illinois. Includes Bennett, Nesbit, Schirm and related families.
