John Adams Hazleton was born 6 August 1820 in Chester, New Hampshire. His parents were Samuel Hazelton and Abigail Tabor. John traveled to California by ship in 1849. Includes six letters that he wrote home during this trip. He returned to New Hampshire and married Louisa Jane Chase, daughter of Josiah Chase and Adaline Ayer, 14 June 1854. They had seven children. He served in the Civil War in the 15th New Hampshire Regiment. He died in 1912....

Robert and John Hazelton, brothers, immigrated from England to Salem, Massachusetts in 1637. They settled in Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts, and moved later to Bradford, Massachusetts. Robert died in 1674.

Edward Hazeltine (1559?- 1611) was born in Knedlington, Howden, Yorkshire, England. His grandson, Robert Hazelton (1609-1674) emigrated and settled in Rowley, Massachusetts. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Iowa and California.

Walter Murphy was born in about 1800. He married Mary Conners 17 November 1820 in Ketch Harbour, Halifax County, Nova Scotia. They had five known children. Traces the descendants of their son, Dennis (1825-1890), who married Margaret Fleming in 1850 and had nine children. Descendants and relatives lived in mainly in Nova Scotia and Massachusetts.

Peter A. DuFrain was born ca. 1810 in Montreal, Ouebec, Canada. He was the son of Boswell Dufrain (born ca. 1784) and Abare Huber. Peter married Charlotte Lambert ca. 1830 in St Charles, Quebec, Canada. They moved to Illinois sometime prior to the year 1848 and were the parents of six known children. Descendants lived in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Kansas, Arizona and elsewhere.
