The emigrant ancestor, John Hopping (1647-1722), was baptized at East Budleigh, England on April 24, 1647. He married Rebecca Hand Smith ca. 1679 after settling in the East Hampton Colony on the eastern end of Long Island, in what is now the village of Wainscott, in East Hampton Township, Suffolk Co., New York.
