Heinrich Ramme was born 5 November 1814 in Dalldorf, Prussia. His parents were Hans Heinrich Ramme and Anna Ilse Goedecke. He married Ilse Dorothea Elisabeth Hacke 12 May 1837 in Pase, Prussia. They had twelve children. They emigrated and settled in Ransom, Illinois. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Illinois.

He married Mary Magdalene Strobel (1884-1973), daughter of Phillip Strobel and Carolina Mittelstadt, in 1904 in Hartford, Wisconsin. They had ten children.
