George Watt (1747-1801) was born in Ireland and came to America during the latter part of the Scoth-Irish immigration and settled in York (later Adams) County, Pennsylvania. In 1771 he married Sarah Shields (b. 1748), daughter of John Shields and Jennette Kirkpatrick. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, New York, California, and elsewhere.

Hans Herr (1639-1725), a Mennonite Bishop, was "... probably born either in northern Switzerland or in the Palatinate ..." He and his family immigrated about 1710 to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. In 1719 his son, Christian Herr, build a stone structure to serve as his home and a Mennonite meetinghouse. This stone structure has been purchased by the Lancaster Mennonite Conference Historical Society, and is being restored.
