James D. Woodman was born in 1865 in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were James A. Woodman and Elizabeth J. Pool. He married Estella May Carr, daughter of Thomas J. Carr and Mary J. Gwin, in about 1903. They had two children. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Indiana, England, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Nebraska and Oregon.
