Robert Edward Hicks (b. 1892) was born near Lansing, Michigan. He and Zoe Gladys Thurber (1895-1972) were married in 1916. They had eight children, all born in Lansing. Zoe was a descendant of Ferdinandus Van Sycklin (1635-1712) who immigrated to New Netherlands (later New York) in 1852. Robert's father was born in Canada, his mother was born in Wisconsin and they both died in Lansing, Michigan.
