Two brothers, Absolam and John Lancaster, settled in Spartanburg County, South Carolina just prior to the Revolutionary War. Absolam's descendant, Edgar B. Lancaster (1884-1937), was born in South Carolina and married Mattie Lee Hines (b. 1886), daughter of Miller and Margaret Gilbert Hines.
