William Hirst was born in 1836 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, England. His parents were Charles Hirst and Charlotte Laycock. He married Harriet Hague (1836-1914), daughter of William Hague and Elizabeth Westerman, 23 February 1857. They had ten children. He died in 1901 in Ecclesfield. Henry Carlos Summers was born in Utah in 1859. His family were early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Sarah Cynthia Stone and they were the parents of twelve children. Information on their ancestral lines, their lives, and those of their children is included in this volume. Elijah Carpenter was born 27 April 1767 in Coventry, Connecticut. He was the son of Elijah Carpenter, Sr. (1732-1803) and Patience Brewster (ca. 1738-1786). Elijah Married Huldah Risley, daughter of Greshom Risley (ca. 1731-1815) and Esther Smith, 6 January 1788 in Bolton, Connecticut. They had seven children, two of whom died in childhood.
