The Hog family of Scotland between the 1500s and the present.

Robert Hogg or Hoge (1721-1798), a native of Southern Scotland, immigrated early in life to County Down, Ireland, and in 1752 to America. He settled in 1754 on land in Tuscarora Valley, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Letitia (1724-1812), had seven children, 1751-1766. Descendants listed lived in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

The Hoge families are descended from William Hoge (b. 1660) of Musselboro, Scotland. He came to America in 1682. He married Barbara Hume and they lived in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and later settled in the Cumberland Valley of Pennsylvania. Descendants (many spelling the surname Hogue) and relatives lived in Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia and elsewhere.

John Hoge was born in 1793 in Tennessee. In 1827 he married Mary Oates and they settled in Jasper, Tennessee. They had five children. Many of their descendants remain in Tennessee today and are spotlighted in this book. Includes Hoge, Alder, Lowman, Raulston, Beatie, Kelly, Cook, Turner, and related families.
