Alexander Hogg (d.1824) was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland and emigrated to Clyde River, Nova Scotia. He married Agness Hamilton in 1796. She had been born in New York in 1774. They were the parents of nine children. Descendants live in Nova Scotia, New Bruswick, Ontario, Alberta and various parts of the United States.

Description
Thomas Hogg (ca. 1798-1843) and Elizabeth Rea (1794-1869) were both from Scotland. They had six children. One son died in infancy. All the others were born in Edinburgh, Scotland and all died in Salt Lake City, Utah. The other son had no children.

The immigrant ancestor of this family, John Hogg, came to New Kent Co., Virginia in 1657. Line in this book descends from Stephen Hogg (b. 1753), son of George and Mary Hogg, of Abington Parish, Gloucester Co., Virginia. Simon Stubberfield Jr. was among the earliest emigrants from England to settle in Gloucester County, Va. The earliest recorded reference to him was listed in 1672. In 1688 he was granted land in Gloucester County.
