Jesse Lynch Holman was born near Danville, Kentucky, in 1784, the son of Henry and Jane Holeman. He was admitted to the Kentucky bar in 1805 and practiced law at New Castle, Port William, and later at Frankfort, Kentucky. He married Elizabeth Masterson, daughter of Judge Richard M.
