Mordecai Hord Fleming (1788-1849) was born in Henry County, North Carolina and died in Clarksville, Texas. He was the son of John Fleming, who emigrated from Ireland, and Jean or Jane Hord, who were married in 1776. In 1810 he married Mary (Polly) McCraw (d. 1831), daughter of Jacob McCraw and Elizabeth Waller. After her death, he moved his family to Texas. Descendants and relatives lived in Texas, Arkansas, Oklkahoma, and elsewhere.
