William Richard Houk was born in Oklahoma in 1915. He married Helen Lucille Kral and they were the parents of two daughters. They eventually settled in Delaware. Information on his ancestral lines is included in this volume. His ancestors lived in Iowa, Ohio, and Virginia before settling in Oklahoma.

Robert Louis Houk (b. 1937) was the son of Theodore Wilbur Houck and Helen Emma Gellerman. He married Marilyn Joan Haugen (b. 1936) in 1960. The oldest known Houk ancestor was Jacob Houk, who was the father of Henry (b. ca. 1775), who married Johannah. Their son, James married Abihail Shephard, while William married her sister, Christine.
