Guilluame de Parmentier (1465) escaped from France and settled in Essex Co., England. Jean Parmentier (a French navigator) of Dieppe, France is supposed to have navigated near Cape Cod, Mass. in 1502. Between 1620 and 1650, over twenty Parmenters immigrated to the United States and Canada. John (deacon) Parmenter (b. 1588) was in Massachusetts by 1620. He was possibly the first Parmenter in America.
