John Kitchel was born in 1809 in Morris County, New Jersey. He married Esther Peck in 1833 in Ohio. They had eight children. They moved to Lake County, Indiana in 1836 and to Warren County, Iowa in 1851. He died 3 March 1860 in Palmyra, Iowa. Descendants and relatives lived in New Jersey, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Iowa, Colorado, Oregon, Wyoming, California, Illinois, Oklahoma, Florida, Connecticut, Michigan, Arkansas, Kansas and elsewhere.

Thomas Studwell (ca. 1600-1670) was probably from Seale, Kent County, England, and immigrated to America in 1635. He was among the settlers at Saybrook, Connecticut, moved to Rye, New York, ca. 1650, and in 1667 to Greenwich, Connecticut, where he died in 1670. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and elsewhere.
