William Gilmor (1747-1816), of Scottish lineage, emigrated from Ireland to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania as a widower with one son, Archibald. He married Sarah Hanna about 1778. Arthur Scott Sr. (fl.1786- 1816) lived in Washington County, Pennsylvania, and was the father of Arthur Scott Jr. (1761-1843), who married Ann Hamilton about 1788.
